This shattuckite freeform features bright, pastel blue and gentle ocean blue tones with hints of clay brown cuprite, forest green malachite and glistening quartzite patches in intricate mottled, swirling, paintily patterns. It has been creatively shaped and polished to a nice shine, ideal for natural decor or artistic inspiration. Shattuckite is a rare copper mineral that is highly regarded for its vivid blue colouration. It is a pseudomorph, formed by altering existing minerals such as quartz, malachite, cuprite and dioptase, and in many specimens of shattuckite some of the original minerals can still be seen making for an attractive multicoloured stone. It takes many forms, occurring as radiating, botryoidal, globular, reniform, or stalactitic crystals. It was first discovered in 1915 in the Shattuck mine in Arizona, after which it was named. Some of the worlds finest Shattuckite specimens are found in the copper mines of the Kaokoveld District, Kunene Region, Namibia, though other notable localities include Arizona and the Congo.
